Look forward to the shortest Oscars ever. The WGA rejected a waiver request for the Oscars and the Golden Globes, ensuring that the host and all celebrities in attendance will be forced to wing it. This means a) there will be no film clips shown and b) the presenters must rely on their own wit to produce the faux flirtations and predictable jokes about hair loss we have come to expect. This may end up being the most fabulous disaster since Rob Lowe danced with Snow White.
Remember that Lost teaser trailer from two days ago? Forget that. There’s a new, extended trailer that should send fans into a tizzy of predictions and speculation. I’ve had an up and down relationship with this show, but after watching this promo, I am eagerly awaiting the season 4 premiere with all the rest of the faithful.
But! You know what else this means? Awards season is also the traditional season of the dreaded Vilanch! So we will not be subjected to the “patter” and “jokes” of the Vilanch.
There’s something for everyone on Monday night. How I Met Your Mother still makes me laugh every week, which is something I never thought I’d say for a CBS comedy. CBS, 8:30
Chuck also still makes me laugh. So does Heroes, which follows it, though I’m pretty sure Chuck is the only one that’s intentionally funny. NBC, 8:00 and 9:00
For cheesy goodness, Gossip Girl’s second season has more than lived up to the promise of the first one. Chuck may be the greatest soap villain since Amanda Woodward first flexed her claws. CW, 8:00

I think we’ll all be better for it.
